Sony Thinks Bond 24 Could Suck (Hacking Scandal)

bond

This Sony hacking scandal is the gift that keeps on giving.  Thanks, uncle Kim!  SPOILERS abound…

In addition to other screenplays being leaked, among them I can confirm an alternate Breaking Bad pilot, at least one Ghostbusters 3 draft and the latest draft of Uncharted, Bond 24 has been leaked onto the interwebs too.  Spectre is out there roaming them screenplay backstreets.  Although I woudln’t advise getting into it any further than that, MGM will sue those who even review it.

Now what does that tell you?

Apparently the third act in particular suffers from mediocrity and ‘watery chases’ and Sony is worried that it’ll hurt the movie.  They even lament the lack of a twist, so MGM are not suing to protect the integrity of spoilers, rather keep the stink contained.  New addition Christopher Waltz will play the film’s villain, Heinrich Stockmann, who also uses the alias Franz Oberhauser according to the The Daily Mail.

Stockman is revealed to be on of Bond’s foster brothers, as well as the head of a terrorist group called Spectre, hence the film’s title.  As the villain is wont to do in most Bond films, he captures and tortures the secret agent, before Bond creates some sort of distraction or incident that forces the villain to travel to London.

Bond eventually kills him there, though many studio executives are not a fan of how this happens.

One script note reads; ‘ALSO, THERE NEEDS TO BE SOME KIND OF A PLOT TWIST RATHER THAN A SERIES OF WATERY CHASES WITH GUNS. THIS IS BLOFELD AFTER ALL. WHAT DOES HE HAVE UP HIS SLEEVE?’

This somewhat confirms an earlier report that Daniel Craig and Sam Mendes were unhappy about the Bond 24 script.  Rewrites occurred, the latest draft (including an older one too) is what has been leaked.  I can’t say any of this surprises me, because if you ask me, GoldenEye was the last good Bond movie and the rest since are mediocre-to-poor movies getting a pass just because they’re Bond movies.
