Arnold Schwarzenegger On The Set Of Universal Soldier – ManlyMovie

Arnold Schwarzenegger On The Set Of Universal Soldier

It was mid October 1991 when a private jet flew into Colorado.  Universal Soldier was being filmed at the Hoover Dam, an upcoming action movie starring European martial arts upstarts Jean Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren.  The jet belonged to Tom Cruise.

But it wasn’t Tom Cruise on board.

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s own private jet was being serviced by engineers, so Tom Cruise put out his own plane for Schwarzenegger to use.  Arnold flew in, seeking out his pal Jean Claude Van Damme.  Van Damme greeted him warmly and took him on a tour of the set.

Having inspected the set, Jean Claude took Arnold back to his private trailer for a lunch of chicken breast with pasta, followed by cigars for everyone.

I posted one picture of this before (I think), here are three more today.  Van Damme was undoubtedly a rising star back then and, arguably, a potential successor to Arnold’s action throne.  I’m sure Arnold was, as much as greeting Van Damme, possibly getting a feel for the competition and what he might be up against in future.

Check out the pics below.
