Statham Says He’s Ready For Furious 8
Jason Statham looks likely to appear in 2017’s “Furious 8”. I don’t think that this will be much of a surprise given that Jason Statham’s character, Deckard Shaw, survived in Furious 7.
AdoroCinema interviewed Jason Statham about his latest film “Spy” and also asked him about reprising his role. His response: “Part 8? Why not. They didn’t kill me.”
I think the formula is burning out though. It is one thing when the heroes don’t die in this series, in an attempt to probably milk their names for the next movie, or at least die, then return anyway. But to have villains survive and also reappear does seem to have a somewhat cynical streak about it.
Furious 7 was a disappointment and I am inclined to agree that the series requires some form of reboot.
