Crowe Set For Beast Prequel ‘Skull Island’

niceguysThere’s something about beast movies that just incline a man to tune in.  Man vs. beast is simply go-to manly movie material and there is no other way to describe it. Maybe it’s the hunter gene trying to get a look in.  Anyway, King Kong will get a prequel, or more accurately an origins tale.

Set for release on March 10, 2017, Kong: Skull Island aims to fully immerse audiences in the mysterious and dangerous home of the king of the apes as a team of explorers ventures deep inside the treacherous, primordial island.  Deadline now reports that Russell Crowe has joined the feature and will take over a role from a previously vacated A-lister.

I really hope that this is better than Peter Jackson’s ‘muh CGI!’ effort from ten years ago.  The only good thing about seeing that movie at the cinema was that Superman Returns trailer, which as it turns out, was much better than the full movie too. No really, look at it, it was the last and probably only time a comic book movie actually gave me a chill.  Russell Crowe vesus a giant ape.  I dunno, it could work.  Maybe he’ll throw his phone at it.
