A ‘Hacksaw Ridge’ Screenplay Review Surfaces

ApocalyptoMel Gibson’s Hacksaw Ridge is not going to be a typical war movie.  It seems that it is set to be a drama more than anything else, but most of us expected that.  A screenplay review for the movie has surfaced over at ScriptShadow which pretty much gives it a neutral-to-positive review.

Beware there are spoilers all over that review.  Apparently the reviewer felt the script was kind of so-so, but then…

But I’ll tell you what saved this script. The ending. The ending here is fucking awesome. It IS the movie. And you know afterwards why this is called Hacksaw Ridge, a seemingly insignificant title for 75% of the movie.

His script appears to be from early 2013, so perhaps some things have changed between then and now but it’s probably pretty much the same.  Hacksaw Ridge is due to shoot in Australia in October and will have a significantly larger budget than expected.
