Alien: Covenant Gets First Artwork, Release Date

I guess we may not be getting our Aliens sequel.  Well we may, but the wait is frozen in time for that now.  But morale increases slightly with this new artwork for Alien: Covenant.  And although Prometheus was a de-facto Alien movie, the new direction they’re going in shows us, really, the first ‘Alien’ artwork for a movie since Alien: Resurrection, AVP movies and games notwithstanding.

Also, the movie now has a release date.  October 6, 2017.  Kind of a long wait.  In addition to the release date and logo, Fox also released an official synopsis, which features one glaring omission:

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

Sounds like it could be a straight up horror movie?
