McQuoid To Direct Mortal Kombat Remake?

mortal-kombat_0b7a1f

Australian advert director Simon McQuoid is said to be in talks to direct the Mortal Kombat reboot at New Line.

Greg Russo wrote the most recent draft based on the manly 1990s game franchise which has released numerous sequels, two previous films and several web series to date.

McQuoid’s award winning work includes high-profile campaigns for PlayStation, Halo, Range Rover, Beats by Dre, and other top brands.

James Wan, Michael Clear, Todd Garner and Jeremy Stein are producing.  This kind of conflicts with Christopher Lambert’s recent claim that they were making a third movie and not a reboot.

It would be nice, if they finally made it R-rated. But since it’s 21st century Hollywood, it’s probably going to be more family friendly than the 1995 movie (which wasn’t bad after all, but… you know there was something missing).

They tried the R-rated thing a few years back with the online series. And people here weren’t happy about it.

Christopher Lambert was cool as fuck in it and then strangely his character was played by Ajax from the warriors in the sequel
