Stallone Teases Expendables 4

We haven’t heard anything about The Expendables 4 in a while, although we know it is happening.  Now Sylvester Stallone is back on social media teasing a fourth entry in the series.  He posted a Photoshopped image on Instagram.

Somethings just can’t be stopped! Coming your way!

A post shared by Sly Stallone (@officialslystallone) on

One of the first commentators gets it: “Sweeeet! You made 3 now so SURELY you can see what was great and where you fucked up, I hate the phrase of ” the customer is always right” bit when it comes to your fans… we know whats right”

Just make a darker, violent movie like the first damn it!

cool but I remember similiar posts from Sly for a couple of years now. I’ll patiently wait for more official stuff. I would welcome a fourth movie with open arms though. they differ in quality and none was actually really good but all 3 of them were entertaining as all hell.

the first expendables was one of the triggers that started my fitness and martial artist lifestyle in a time I didn’t really know what to do with my life.. so yeah this franchise is a little special to me ;P

He’s back training too he posted a few weeks back, and he’s been seen in a Christmas photo with Avi Lerner, so I’d say it’s definitely back on. Yay!!! Just need it darker than the 3rd one which more of a comedy / superhero film at times, it’s only highlights were Gibbo and Snipes. Let’s hope this begins production soon and they leave out the youngsters from the 3rd film too, or better yet throw in a line or two to say they’ve all been killed haha!

Next to MI6, this is the only movie I’m waiting for. I know he’s making Creed II next, but hope he quickly follows with EX4.

I think the novelty of The Expendables is gone for me. I still think that Rambo (2008) was the best Expendables movie. If TE4 is in that same vein, then I’d be somewhat interested, but even the first two Expendables movies were pretty trashy. So going back to that ‘barely R’ tone wouldn’t do much to entice me.

      Rambo is a fuckin masterpiece.

Great movie. That’s what The Expendables should have been like, at least tone wise. All The Expendables have been too tongue-in-cheek, and mild on the violence. Sly should have played ’em straight instead of all these cheesy “I now pronounce you, man and knife” quips, and boring action. How does a movie have so many great action stars and not have a single memorable action scene in all three movies?

The thing about the Expendables franchise is that to me judging by how different the three films are a little bit in tone you can tell that they never really had a clear direction in which they wanted to go or what they wanted to do.

That being said I actually like the first two movies and of course I think the third one is the weakest of the trilogy. That is not to say that they were not miss opportunities in all 3 films. Simon West revealed on the DVD commentary that Jet Li’s fight sequence was edited down and I was like “what the fuck?! What the fuck u think I’m watching Expendables for?!” Also they had limited amount of time between Jason Statham and Scott Adkins to rehearse and shoot their fight scene while most of the time was dedicated to some tennis player’s cameo on a fucking Airport scene that ended up being cut from the fucking movie anyways. Again … who gives a shit?! who the fuck do you think is your audience?! Some of the creative choices were baffling, like in part 3 you have Harrison Ford, Gibson, Snipes and Arnold all-in-one movie for the first time and you don’t have one fucking single solitary scene with them together…again what the fuck were they thinking?!?!?!

But like I wrote, I liked the first 2 movies but Rambo is just a kick ass action masterpiece that looks like it was made by Cannon back in the day

To me the big issue with Expendables is that Stallone never seemed all that committed to making old-school action movies. I think what he really wanted was mainstream success by trying to rival modern action franchises like Mission Impossible or Fast and Furious.

As you say, the tone was all over the place too and much of that probably stems from the actors all having different ideas about what the project meant. For some, it was their chance to briefly escape DTV hell while for most of the big name cameos it was just an easy paycheck.

By the third one is when he really wanted to imitate Fast and the Furious which was sad cuz sad Fast and the Furious imitated The Expendables . The Rock and Vin Diesel in a movie together were them saying like they wanted to have Arnold and Stallone in their prime in a movie. Also they turn the franchise into more of an Ensemble piece and by the way when Stallone publicly said he wanted Kurt Russell to be in Expendables …who do you think Vin Diesel went after to be in his movie?

Yeah three movies & three different films in terms of tone. When Gibson was in the van with Stallone in part 3 that’s the tone the movie should have had ( minus the stupid kids as well if course).

I think we can all agree that the franchise would have greatly benefited from having the tone of the Rambo movie. Still the first two movies offer some cool things. I still love Van Damme in part 2 for example…but could have been more Epic

Bring back Wesley Snipes. And stop putting young kids acting tough.

And Antonio banderas as well as galgo again cause he and snipes were the best part of the third and they’ve done action before even with stallone in the 90s.

Kill off the young kids, Randy couture and jet li and make Harrison Ford the villain if you can’t get Jack Nicholson or get Bruce Willis back as Church either as the hero or villain or get Liam Neeson, Gerard Butler, Brian Bosworth Howie Long, Peter Weller, Denzel Washington, Rutger Hauer, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Samuel L Jackson, Kurt Russell, Stephen Lang, Ron Perlman, Michael Biehn, Jean Reno, Don Johnson, Kevin Costner, Tommy Lee Jones, Jeff Bridges, Burt Reynolds, James Caan, Michael Keaton, John travolta, Nicolas Cage, Ed Harris, John Malkovich, Tom Berenger, Michael Madsen, Tom Sizemore, etc.

      January 12, 2018 at 6:14 pm

Killing off the kids is a cool idea. But which of them would sign onto the movie just to get butchered in the opening act? All of them would probably pass on the idea. BUT… doesn’t mean they couldn’t get creative. A bit of dialogue to suggest that Rousey and the others (I literally forget their names) are in a minibus… then show it getting shot up with 20mm cannon and everything inside splatters to shit.

Something like that. You can have the ‘Young Expendables’ blown to hell in the opening act without actually casting them in the movie.

Bring back Mickey Rourke, and Jean Claude Van Damme too and please please, get Steven Seagal and Arnold vosloo and Dwayne Johnson and vin diesel and Christopher Lambert.

i wish that version of part 3 where the guy was adding in cgi blood would get released. i usually hate cg blood but this looked pretty cool.

I wish someone would do a fan edit of part 3. There are whole communities dedicated to that type of thing, but I don’t think it would be possible. The entire DNA of them movie revolves around the young dweebs.

EX2 is good for a fan edit though.

The EX3 unrated cut is a slight improvement over the theatrical version. The 3rd act featured good shootouts the problem is as we have previously stated is that you don’t give a fuck about the new mercs & by then Gibson felt underutilized.

I stumbled across this edit of the action scenes from EX3, adding in blood & gore. The CGI is a little spotty, but it’s pretty good in my opinion…

Don’t get Robert DeNiro, and Alec Baldwin cause they’re political assholes now especially de niro who knew about Harvey Weinstein.

  10. Andymovieman

    January 12, 2018 at 5:48 pm

I said Ron Perlman for Expendables 4 but forget about it cause now he’s a joke because he’s gotten too political like Robert DeNiro and Alec Baldwin so if he wanted to appear as a villain that’d be great but as a hero alongside the Expendables no.

    January 13, 2018 at 4:24 am

Maybe this time they’ll make a movie that lives up to the concept/cast. just make it like its still 1995. hard R/15, blood squibs no CG. class 80s/90s director (is Verhovan or McTiernan busy?), kill Stath and Randy/Crews (please just kill those guys), NO EXPENDAKIDZ (not to even be killed), as for who guest star/villains this time aside the regulars (Sly, Dolph, Snipes) – pick a few from the usual names that get bandied around – Travolta, Cage, Kurt, Pacino, Brosnan, Biehn etc ..also Ford won’t want to come back after EX3 (and especially not now he’s in the middle of the SW/BR/Indy comeback victory lap) so bring back BW (save him from those damn Straight to Tesco DVDs), and this time make sure the big names have some scenes together. Oh and go somewhere else than Bulgaria ffs

These bitches tried to lure the fans since the beginning, remember that picture of black guys lying on the ground with pratical blood ? they showed this one just to make us believe it was going to be R, and that fucking pic ended up as a photograph in the CIA file of Stonebanks.

    1. Hard R, blood-squibbed violence is a must. No less.

    2. Kill off some Expendables. All of the EX3’s young blood, some of the old guard (Crews, Couture).

    3. Get Dwayne Johnson or Gerard Butler as the villain.

    4. Get a director who can bring the goods without shaky cam or quick-cut editing. Preferably an action veteran, though any young gun who has carved a respectable action niche is welcome. Peter Hyams, John Woo, Martin Campbell, John Hyams, Ric Roman Waugh, some South Korean filmmakers etc.

    5. Get rid of the self-awareness that plagued the previous three. No stupid one-liners.

    6. More stunts, less Bulgarian-quarry-level CGI, please.

This will probably fall on deaf ears, but hey, a man can dream.

“I Want i Want i Want!” I Think some people pretend every sort of favour from his favorite actor! It’s a miracle that some type of film Today it’s possible because 20 years ago was impossbile that Sly and swarzy (or other big action actors) play a movie together! And we need to thanks Sly after not one but three film of expendables. Now another miracle after the theft of the last film (big damage for the tickets) and i thanks mr. Stallone for another chance to see every favorite actors from 80’s working together one last time! (Ok i’m ok to kill Young expendables and put van damme twin Brother plus Cage and Sensei seagal). My Two cents…
