Murphy: Beverly Hills Cop IV Films Next

Beverly Hills Cop IV has been in development hell for up to 25 years now.  But it looks like Eddie Murphy is dusting off some old stuff again, both filming Coming 2 America and returning to stand up.  And what about Beverly Hills Cop IV?

Murphy tells Collider:

Yeah that’s what we’re doing after Coming to America 2. We’re doing Beverly Hills Cop and then the plan is to get back on stage and do standup. That’s what I’ll be doing mostly is standup. These movies and Saturday Night Live it’s kind of like…I’m looking at it as a bookend. If I decided I wanted to stay on the couch forever, I ended it on a funny note.”

Murphy has previously hinted that poor writing has caused recent misfires with the film almost going ahead, and also told Ellen DeGeneres that he was determined to stop appearing in movies that ‘sucked’.

Jerry Bruckheimer is rumored to produce.  The movie is supposedly set in a storm-swept Detroit.
