So, some big news here.
They’re moving forward with a new Under Siege movie. According to Deadline, it’ll be a reboot, with Timo Tjahjanto as director. They say that the movie is ‘well into development’ and is set to stream on HBO Max.
Interestingly, on the status of Steven Seagal’s involvement, according to them, is ‘there’s no word yet’.
I would wager that Steven Seagal is not going to be in this movie. Seagal now lives in Moscow, for a start, with (as of the summer) some financial disputes with the American establishment. Seagal is also persona non grata and hasn’t been a box office force in decades. It would seem that ‘reboot’ could actually be interpreted as ‘remake’.
We also know that Steven Seagal’s pitch for Under Siege 3 involved Russian Spetsnaz teaming up with American Green Berets to take down some type of terror network, this would seem unlikely as a plot for this new movie; we know Russians are not allowed to appear as heroes in Hollywood, especially with Steven Seagal helping out.
… it is now rumored that Lethal Finale, directed by The GOAT, will also appear on HBO Max. Somewhat similar, Lethal Weapon has been on ice since the 1990’s and Mel Gibson was another blacklisted guy. But Mel is simply more popular than Seagal.
At any rate, this director, he knows what he’s doing. Check out this review.
