The film is directed by David Blue Garcia, with a screenplay by Chris Thomas Devlin, from an original story co-written by Fede Álvarez and Rodo Sayagues. It is a direct sequel to the 1974 original and ignores all other entries in the series.

The film sees Leatherface terrorize a group of youngsters as they accidentally interfere with his secluded lifestyle in a small Texas town.

The movie was filmed in Bulgaria and will release on Netflix on February 18th.
