Of course, everyone knows that Tim Burton was going to revive Superman in the 1990s in the same way that he did Batman in the 1980s. Superman Lives was set to stay Nicolas Cage in the title role with Tim Burton directing. For years, the shots of Cage in costume were considered fake until video footage emerged proving them real. The film was cancelled however.
Now in a recent interview with GQ, Cage has teased that he could still return as Superman one day. During the interview, Cage responds to a Reddit post by a fan who wants to know why Superman Lives can’t still be made today.
“Would it matter how much time I appeared as the character? There might still be a chance.”
Of course, no. Likely not. But then again… who ever thought Michael Keaton would return as Batman? They love this alternate universe stuff in that genre at the minute. Actually, Michael Keaton was in talks to appear in Burton’s Superman, making a cameo as Bruce Wayne.
