Stallone Confirms R-Rated Blu-Ray

At The Expendables 3 London press conference today, a reporter asked Sylvester Stallone on the motive behind the lack of violence in the movie compared to the previous two.  Stallone went on to say: “The idea of PG-13, we wanted to hit a broader audience.  And because of our predecessors, the Bournes, the James Bonds, we thought, these are pretty violent films and extremely graphic without pushing it.  The amount of warfare in this movie, if it was graphic, after a while it would be almost too much.”  Stallone also confirmed that Hael Caesar does not die, which he claims is the difference between an R cut and a PG-13 cut.

Elsewhere in more positive news, Stallone confirms the inevitability of a harder cut on Blu-Ray.  “Of course when we go to do the DVD, you’ll see all that.  You know the… ’80 frames’ and you’ll say, ‘oh, there it is'”.  Supposedly there is four hours of footage in the can, so I’m sure it’ll be more than a few hairline cuts that get placed back in.

We already know that a more violent cut of the movie already exists, this was confirmed to us by a friend from the set of the movie.  So I’m sure this’ll be of interest to some people.
