Ranking The Dirty Harry Movies
1) Magnum Force (1973)
I think that this is one of the coolest movies of the 20th century, certainly the 1970s. This is the best Dirty Harry movie.
It’s the best because the theme is amazing, vigilante bikers cops who blast pissants at the side of the road in their own cars. Bribes don’t work. Status doesn’t work. If you have it coming, they’re coming for you because they’re idealists. And they look cool as fuck while doing it.
But they didn’t reckon on Harry Callahan, who despite being rough around the edges, still has a soft spot for the rule of law. It’s up to him to take them down. And how!
Karate chopping a man to death in the gullet, good God… it was unfathomably manly, say nothing of how he killed the other one on that bike – ramming him head on in his automobile in a shrewd ambush. I love this movie and think that I need to watch again, tonight.
