Mad Max is a loner and a ‘shell of a man’. That wasn’t 100% the case with the latest movie. Charlize Theron’s Furiosa featured prominently. It appears she might not be in the sequel however, so Max could by riding solo-ish once again. I’m guessing this is probably down to Theron pretty much hating the entire shoot, with alleged difficulties between her and Hardy.
In an interview with Digital Spy, Miller said the character is present only briefly in the scripts.
“I’m not sure, is the answer,” Miller said when asked about Theron’s potential return. “She’s not in the Mad Max [sequel] story, but in one of the stories there’s an interaction between [Max and Furiosa]. I can’t really say more than that because it’s still in progress.”
Miller also commented on the sequel film’s expected title: “Mad Max: The Wasteland”.
“That name came out, that was just a working title,” he said. “Nico Lathouris and I wrote deep backstories on all the characters and they eventually became screenplays – so we have two [more movies].
