There is more news for The Exorcist, after it was recently revealed that the third movie’s director’s cut was headed to Blu-Ray, remastered. What that really means is that the only real sequel to the original movie is on its way, after being considered ‘lost’ for decades.
They’re also doing something on TV though.
THR reported on Fox’s order of The Exorcist to pilot, describing the modern reinvention as “a propulsive, serialized psychological thriller following two very different men tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession, and confronting the face of true evil.” Blatty most famously adapted his own work for William Friedkin’s horror film of the same name, for which the author won one of the picture’s two Oscars.
I’m guessing the ‘two very different’ men means one pragmatist psychologist and one pious believer, with the former being forced to change his views. Or something.
