Sony Putting Out Blade Runner 2 Internationally

Cool news, we’re getting a Blade Runner sequel.  Not so cool news, it has Ryan Gosling in it.  But it also has Harrison Ford in it and helmed by Denis Villeneuve, a fine craftsman.  I watched the Final Cut over Christmas and fell in love with the movie again, if you haven’t watched it in a while or ever, you should check it out.

Now, it has been announced that Sony Pictures Releasing International will distribute Alcon Entertainment’s follow-up to Ridley Scott’s 1982 masterpiece Blade Runner in all overseas territories in all media; with Warner Bros. Pictures distributing in North America and Canada through its output agreement with Alcon, it was announced by Alcon co-founders and co-CEO’s Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson.

The film will be set several decades after the 1982 movie, so we’re king of getting a ‘real time’ sequel.  Production is said to begin on this movie in earnest this summer, July in fact.  How awesome is that first trailer going to be?  Maybe we’ll get that this year…
