McTiernan Prepping Action Movie With Richard Dutcher

The news from John McTiernan has not been great in recent times.  Currently McT is in a (lost) battle to save his ranch.  He was trying to convince the law that he could afford to hold the property by virtue of his upcoming slate. Alongside that, his ex wife was also demanding money.

The powers that be did not believe him though and declared that his ‘announced’ movies were just attempts to buy some time.  So it has to be wondered, will any of them, even his WW2 movie, come to fruition?

Well it’s not all bad news.  Turns out director Richard Dutcher is working with McT on a new movie.  Here is what he said on his Facebook account this week;

Ok. I can talk about it now. Today I started my third week of writing for director John McTiernan (DIE HARD, THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER, PREDATOR, etc.). We’re writing a very fun action movie, and we’re having a hell of a lot of fun doing it.Eating great food, drinking good wine, and Creating Some Action sequences That I-have never seen in Any movie before. Writing for McT is one of the highlights of my professional career. He is not only a brilliant filmmaker, goal Genuinely good man. Also, Almost every day he tells me how much he liked BRIGHAM CITY. There’s only one shot He Did not like. emoticon smile This is the kind of job you never want to end.

Sounds good, but I still wonder why McTiernan is not being thrown a bone by any of the bigger studios, the man is obviously exceptionally talented.  I must reassert that it looks like John McTiernan has simply made some very powerful enemies.
