Sony: Ghostbusters Sequel ‘Will Happen’

Sony seem optimistic about the ‘Ghostbusters’ franchise (such as it is, now) and where it’s heading.  Despite the movie having the most disliked movie trailer of all time on YouTube, they’re confident that a sequel is going to happen.

Rory Bruer, president of worldwide distribution at the studio, tells The Wrap: “I expect ‘Ghostbusters’ to become an important brand and franchise, while nothing has been officially announced yet, there’s no doubt in my mind it will happen.”

Yeah, about that.  While it had a strong opening of 46 million, this should be taken in context.  Strong in the sense that people expect worse.  But weak when we realize that it’ll probably drop off and is going to miss a Chinese release.

This is probably damage control.
