They’re remaking Scarface and have apparently found someone to make the movie.
Fuqua is presently negotiating to direct, the third version of the crime drama previously made by Howard Hawks in 1932 and Brian DePalma in 1983. The new one once again follows an immigrant who rises to power in the underworld. This time though the setting is Los Angeles, not Chicago or Miami. Jonathan Herman penned the most recent draft following earlier versions by Paul Attanasio and David Ayer. Marty Bregman, Marc Shmuger, Scott Stuber, and Dylan Clark will produce.
Fuqua is a good director, but this isn’t going to be an easy sell, at all.
