Where are the most manly movie locations?
From cowboy classics like The Good, The Bad and The Ugly to recent car racing blockbusters like The Fast and the Furious, it seems as though the movie’s location is just as important as the action in giving us plenty of testosterone-fuelled excitement.
So here’s a look at some of the most masculine movie locations, and how you can get to them to be a part of the action!
The Fast and the Furious is probably one of the manliest movie franchises still going. Thanks to the muscular antics of Vin Diesel and the high-octane action of the muscle cars it’s helped many unlikely locations in Los Angeles suddenly gain an extra level of grandeur.
Los Angeles is also has provided the director, Quentin Tarantino, will the ideal place to showcase his ultra-violent wisecracking movies. Eagle Rock Boulevard is a great place to recreate some scenes from his breakthrough Reservoir Dogs movie, and whilst many the locations for Pulp Fiction are still standing, the famous diner on Hawthorne Boulevard has unfortunately been demolished for an auto parts store!
Further east, the casino city of Las Vegas has had its fair share of masculine mayhem. Perhaps it was the ensemble cast of George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon attempting to rob the Bellagio, Mirage and MGM Grand casinos in Ocean’s Eleven that made it the most stylish movie ever.
Other movies shot in Sin City that have seen plenty of male-focused debauchery include The Hangover and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. And whilst anybody can get a taste of the classic casino games of Las Vegas at gaming sites like Lucky Nugget Casino, it’s important to remember that there’s more to this city than just gambling.
This is especially so as Las Vegas is in the midst of the Mojave Desert that’s also served as the backdrop for some very manly movies that include some shots for the Tatooine planet in Star Wars.
Las Vegas also served as an awesome backdrop for the mob-related gambling mayhem of Martin Scorsese’s Casino movie, but for a glimpse of the filming locations of The Godfather – the ultimate gangster film – we’ll have to head over to the mean streets of New York City.
Not that all of The Godfather was shot in the Big Apple, as some scenes were filmed in the ultra-macho parts of Sicily, whilst some of the final Godfather movie was even shot amidst the casinos of Atlantic City.
There are plenty of other great manly filming locations in Europe with Clint Eastwood’s The Good, The Bad and The Ugly actually being filmed in many areas of Spain rather than the Wild West of the USA.
And despite the poker scene in James Bond’s Casino Royale allegedly being shot in a glamorous gaming establishment in Montenegro, it seems as though the exterior scenes were actually shot at the Karlovy Vary spa in the Czech Republic!
