Cameron Teases Aliens Return

After the poor reaction to Alien: Covenant, and possibly because of it, Neill Blomkamp’s Aliens sequel has apparently been shelved.  Or has it?

During an IGN (via Bloody Disgusting) red carpet interview for Alita: Battle Angel – which he co-wrote and produced – James Cameron was asked a question about calling Neill Blomkamp about his rejected Alien 5 concept. His response was a succinct: “I’m working on that, yeah.”

So… is he working on getting Blomkamp back into the fold?  Or working on his own sequel?  Or both?  It’s well known that Cameron isn’t Alien3’s biggest fan.

We shall have to see.  Maybe his comment will rustle some trees and someone in the know will add some fuel to the fire via social media, or something.
