Just when you (might have) thought that Ghostbusters was going to be rescued from the shit show that was the female reboot, you might want to curb your enthusiasm. There is no problem casting a 12 year old girl in a movie, but there is when she’s in talks for the ‘lead’ role. Says Darkhorizons.com…
12-year-old “Captain Marvel” actress Mckenna Grace, who plays young Carol Danvers in the film, is in talks for the leading role in Jason Reitman’s new supernatural adventure film “Ghostbusters 3” at Sony Pictures.
What’s odd is that Reitman recently said the following:
“I’m not making the ‘Juno’ of ‘Ghostbusters’ movies. This is going to be a love letter to ‘Ghostbusters’. I love this franchise. I grew up watching it. I consider myself the first ‘Ghostbusters’ fan. I was like seven years old when that movie came out and I love it. I want to make a movie for my fellow ‘Ghostbusters’ fans.”
Well, not making Juno and this piece of news don’t square. One isn’t true. If they do make the lead a school girl, there will be backlash. And inevitably, the child will get some social media neckbeard abuse. The usual suspects will love that.
