A little bit of a break has come for a film that needed it, The Expendables 4 has scored itself a villain in Iko Uwais. According to Deadline, Uwais plays a man running his own private army:
Details are being kept under wraps, but the plot again will focus on a group of veteran mercenaries. Uwais plays a former military officer-turned-arms dealer with his own private army.
Presumably, Tony Jaa will be part of his team. This will never quite match Mel Gibson, but at least these are known and respectable names. Of course, the loathed ‘Young Expendables’ are nowhere to be found in this film.
This is proving to be a difficult film to forecast. Bulgaria is now only one of three shooting locations, lessons will presumably have been learned from the previous PG-13 fiasco. But things have definitely been lost and weakened as well.
Still looks like ‘one to keep an eye on’.
