Here is Steven E. de Souza talking about Judge Dredd (1995). And let me tell you, you’re going to want to watch this one because de Souza knows how to tell a story. And it’s an interesting one too, kind of sad even.
It is a recap, for those who don’t know, of the creative problems with the 1995 movie. Sylvester Stallone and the studio wanted a PG-13 Big Mac-friendly farce, however the appropriately manly-named Danny Cannon, director of the show, wanted a darker bloodbath hell movie.
To some extent, that movie existed. Before multiple hatchet jobs were done on it. Even so, the movie isn’t so bad. It’s still ‘R’ and probably a bit underrated.
But how good would it be to see the director’s cut?!
