You might know that there’s a sixth Die Hard in the works by 20th Century Fox. The guy tasked with writing this movie is Ben Trebilcook, according to Total Film. “Die Hard 6 – or Die Hardest, as it’s currently known – is currently at the writing stage, with Brit Ben Trebilcook penning a treatment.” Yesterday ManlyMovie had an exchange with Trebilcook on Twitter, really just a chance thing. When quizzed on Die Hardest, Trebilcook was quick to correct on the title, allegedly called Old Habits Die Hard. But more interestingly, he alluded to John McTiernan being linked to the project.
@ManlyMovie Die Hardest aka Old Habits Die Hard.. It was a spec. Some misquotes in interviews, but can say Team McTiernan are in contact 🙂

To be honest, I don’t believe this, hence the question mark accompanying this article. Some people question Trebilcook’s status and whether or not he is involved in the writing process of a sixth Die Hard, but he did write specs for at least one of the past two movies. Total Film, which claims/claimed he is the writer, is also a solid enough source (they sell a monthly hard issue magazine, not many do that anymore). Trebilcook has promised to spill ManlyMovie more details, but has since gone quiet. which could indicate a) He’s busy, b) he got ahead of himself and revealed too much, c) he’s trolling.
If it’s the latter, Trebilcook is only damaging his own reputation. At any rate, I’m sure it’s an informal possibility. Talks happens but will always only be talk. McTiernan is a free agent and returned to Die Hard once before, at a time when he had much bigger stock in Hollywood than he does now. But for now, still just a rumor.
