Manly Man Nicolas Cage may be perturbed to find the following news that his latest movie, Outcast, has been shitcanned in China just hours before release. At least temporarily. The Sino-Franco-Canadian co-production was due to be released this week during the Chinese box office season.
The reason why has not been made clear. The Yunnan Film Group, the film’s Chinese distributor and co-production partner, informed co-producer Arclight Films that they couldn’t share the reasons for the postponement.
Let’s face it, it’s Communist China, who knows what trivial one liner offended who. It wouldn’t surpise me if Cage didn’t even know it was supposed to be released this week there in the first place! The movie opens in the west on February 27th, in 3D.
Synopsis: “When the heir of the Imperial throne becomes the target of assassination by his despised older brother, the young prince’s only hope is the protection of his sister, and the reluctant aid of war-weary Crusader, Arken (Hayden Christensen), who must overcome his own personal demons and rally the assistance of the legendary Crusader-turned-bandit, Gallain (Nicolas Cage) to return the prince to his rightful place on the throne.”
