Time for an update on Mad Max: Fury Road (2015), which is currently into its second and final week of filming in Australia. Director George Miller has, at last, spoken on the movie again. He first confirms what we’ve said all year – no Mel Gibson cameo: ”It would have been nice somehow but, no, it’s not true.” Miller says that the action is ‘pretty constant’ and also commented on additional shooting: “There are no re-shoots at all. Other than some brief augmenting shots, filming has been confined to scenes that bookend the movie. Our film, luckily after a ridiculous amount of work, is testing extremely well.”
Elsewhere, the old rumor of ‘difficult’ actors that had floated around during the Namibia shoot has returned. Like we said in a previous update, Hardy and Theron were said to have been less that professional during their shoot in Africa. While Hardy has cleaned up his act, Theron is said to be decidedly pissed to be back on set with a shaved head. The other thing with this movie is, we still don’t know if it’s a reboot or sequel. Some cite the presence of another Interceptor as proof of a reboot, however this car was originally built for the movie when Mel was supposed to star in it as a sequel, so that proves nothing.
Lastly, one more thing on Mad Max. The video game adaption… due in April.
