Manly man Bill Paxton will return to the western genre in 2015 when he appears alongside Ray Liotta and Thomas Jane in Texas Rising. New banners and an official trailer are below.
The eight-hour event series from executive producer Leslie Greif (“Hatfields and McCoys”) stars Paxton as Texas legend Sam Houston and follows his fight for Texas’ independence against Mexican general Santa Anna. “The Killing Fields” helmer Roland Joffe directs. Greif’s previous series for History, the Paxton and Kevin Costner-starring “Hatfields and McCoys,” set ratings records for the channel.
The series will make its debut on History, May 25th 2015 (Memorial Day). This joins a list of upcoming western considerations, such as By Way Of Helena starring Woody Harrelson and Liam Hemsworth, The Homesman, with Tommy Lee Jones, The Revenant with Tom Hardy and Leonardo DiCaprio and In The Valley Of Violence, starring John Travolta and Ethan Hawke.
So it’s good to see the genre is still alive and well.
