Furious 8 Gets Release Date

The inevitable eighth movie in the “Fast & Furious” franchise will hit cinemas on April 14, 2017.

Vin Diesel made the announcement at CinemaCon in light of “Furious 7’s” massive $1.158 billion haul at the global box office, which also makes it the fastest movie to cross one billion in such a short time.

There were rumours previously that the series would take a break somewhat and continue with some spin off movies. However that doesn’t seem realistic and this confirms that the main series won’t take a break – not that there won’t be spin offs.  I am sure they’ll even try both.

But where could the series go from here?  To me it seems that things are becoming tired.  The finale of the latest movie was just too much for me.  But since it is a profitable formula I don’t think anyone at Universal will be too worried about pressing for a wheel reinvention.
