The Terminator Re-Released On Blu-Ray This May – ManlyMovie

The Terminator Re-Released On Blu-Ray This May

TERMINATORBLURAY2

It looks like The Terminator (1984) is set for another Blu-Ray release.  This May, probably to coincide with the release of Terminator: Genisys, another re-release of the original movie will happen.

Unfortunately details beyond that are slim.  And it might be hard to pick up, since the only place I’ve seen it listed so far is on Amazon Japan.  Their release date is May 24th.  No word on extras or if it’ll be a remaster (it could do with a 4k job) but I wouldn’t hold out on either.

You can check out the artwork for the release below.  And yes, it actually is official.  I thought it might have been fanwork at first, not the case though.

Didn’t you see the new remaster from a few years back, mate? It looks amazing. Much better than the terrible original Blu-ray. And the new remaster is probably about the best it’ll ever look considering the age and small budget.

I wish they’d release a Blu Ray with audio and video that matches the original ’84 version.

Most likely in some cinemas in big cities, the entire Terminator series will be shown in a marathon leading up to Geneshyte. They did the same thing for “Die Hard” when the latest abomination came out, and “Indiana Jones” in conjunction with the blu-ray release of the trilogy. Seriously hope that is the case, to see the first two Terminators in the cinema as they were meant to be seen will be absolute gold.

Blu-ray newb here…can’t believe how many versions of this there are. Did they ever make a good audio mix from the original mono? My 12(?) year old DVD’s 5.1 is terrible – the shotgun blasts sound like muffled pellet guns.
