Will McGregor Break Hollywood?

After losing his fight with Nate Diaz, Conor McGregor tweeted a retirement announcement.  Not to be outdone in the blasé stakes, Nate Diaz announced his own retirement.  You’d have to wonder if McGregor has been rattled by Diaz – surely the best thing to do would be another final, and highly lucrative, showdown with Diaz at UFC 200.

Maybe there are other reasons though.  When you have the gift of the gab and know how to promote a pay per view like McGregor does, all kinds of offers are going to come your way and not necessarily increased PPV percentages.  It’s difficult for we pissants to know, but at what point does charisma starting paying the bills more easily than fighting?  And if you’ve spoken to enough boxers, you’ll eventually hear that slurred speech pattern.  The math is not difficult.

McGregor is already being sought to star in xXx: The Return of Xander Cage.  I wonder if this is his foot in the door, or if other offers have been made.  Perhaps big ones, maybe the obligatory Avi Lerner offer to work a light schedule in Bulgaria has already been surpassed.

Come to think of it like I said a while back, Creed II needs a monster villain

With social media a lot of these guys that can put two sentences together or at least have some charisma, get some fame really fast.
a lot of people talk about fighting mix martial arts or boxing & don’t know what they’re talking about and immediately hail guys like this as “the next big thing” or “the greatest thing since this or that”

1 of today’s problems is the over importance that is emphasized on being undefeated, say for example the likes of Floyd Mayweather. Throughout history many of the greats, if not all, have been defeated at some point or another.
Also fighters used to have more fight than Fighters now.

This kid talked a lot of trash, got a lot of publicity rather quickly, then got his ass kicked and now he packed his bags and went home.
If that’s the case, so be it …just another “15 minutes Fame sensation”
( btw..i wanted to see the McGregor v Diaz rematch, so fight fans are the ones that lose..again )

By the way Muhammad Ali is not the greatest..
Sugar Ray Robinson was the greatest, Ali copied his style.

Can’t make my mind up about this guy.I’m Irish too but I find it hard to stomach his trash talk. Jose Aldo deserved a bit more respect. On the other hand, McGregor was able to back up his verbiage.. As for the flics..who can tell where the hype ends and the serious interest begins?
