1st Poster For Walter Hill’s New Movie

News came a while back out of the Toronto International Film Fest that Walter Hill is again about to get back into the director’s chair.  The film ‘Tomboy centres on a male hitman who becomes a woman with Sigourney Weaver appearing alongside Michelle Rodriguez. The film sees a man captured by Sigourney Weaver then forced to go through ‘gender reassignment’ surgery against his will, he then sets to presumably assassinate someone.

Weaver will play the villainous ‘The Doctor’ while Rodriguez is in the title role.  Below is the first poster.

Some are already calling this movie ‘transphobic’, but I simply can’t imagine anyone involved in this movie signing on if it was like that.  If this movie is at all political, it is going in the opposite direction if anything.

I have to say I have enjoyed “Bullet to the Head” more & more with repeat viewings. Cool underrated action movie and Jason Momoa kicked ass.

Walter Hill’s last great film was Last Man Standing (1996) and it was also the last great Willis movie. His movie “Bullet to the Head” was OK but had like only 4 minutes of action, i was so disapointed, the movie needed to be action-packed, he didnt deliver at all. It needed at least 15-20 minutes of action.

As much as i am a fan of him, i think this is gonna suck and it makes me want to vomit (trans man).

He should go back to doing the manly action packed thrillers he made his name with. Should re-hire Nick Nolte, Powers Boothe, David Patrick Kelly and Mickey Rourke for an R-rated thriller.

Well, if you had read the synopsis to me before the movie was cast, i would have instantly suggested either Paz De La Huerta or Michelle for the lead. At least they’ve got that right.

It’s true that Walter Hill’s last good movie was a long time ago (Undisputed 2002) but then he’s only made one movie since then (the routine Bullet To The Head)..and people forget that in the interim he launched Deadwood and also did a good western miniseries for tv .(Broken Trail 2006) …it’s also true to say that my heart sank when I first heard what this one was about ( et tu Walter? ) but on mature reflection I have decided the whole film sounds so bat shit crazy and off it’s fucking head that I must see it. A brave filmmaker might use a story like this to gloriously bad taste un-PC effect…Is Walter Hill that guy? I think he once was….Unfortunately I think Night is correct. They won’t dare bait the trannies..A plot like this needs one of those lunatic Ken Russell. Today only crazy Takeshi Miike in Japan or maybe one of those fearless South Korean’s would know how to do it…maybe a horror director.?

Jesus this sounds bad and will surely not fit into the ‘so bad it’s good’ remit. What the hell is Walter thinking?! Either he’s been contractually hamstrung, is in serious debt or he fell and hit his head on something solid when his agent asked him if he was interested. It sounds like an action version of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.
Not even sure I should ask this but who (if any) will be Michelle Rodriguez’ love interest in this?

I know how you feel…but if this was one of those sick puppy Japanese-South Korean directors you might see possibilities for some outrageous bad taste un-PC grand guignol…..Your question is pertinent…but let’s not go there. We’re lucky they didn’t cast Bruce Jenner. He can fuck himself.

Haha that was just the kind of response I was expecting Jim. Jesus Christ Bruce Jenner (if he could act) would be perfect for the love interest!
And yeah i’m sure if I browsed the net hard enough I could find a nutty, sick Korean version of a similar storyline. Takeshi Miike or Park-Chan Wook have done stuff much sicker than this already.

True enough..Takeshi Miike is a genuine madman.Do you like his stuff? I like him best when he sticks to genre..13 Assassins was superb and I found a lot of his low budget yakuza movies on VeeHD..good stuff…His more extreme material is like a car crash for me.I can only take a little of it at a time. One a month. Those Japanese are sick puppies….The south Koreans are making brilliant movies these days. They put us to shame…….We ‘re pretty tame here in the west compared to those fascinating nutters out east…

No0t really a big Miike fan no but my wife is. She has a bunch of Korean movies too sick for me. I am not a horror/torture porn fan at all. I prefer Joon-ho Bong and Park-Chan Wook’s stuff and similar. Movies like Memories Of Murder, A Bittersweet Life, Chaser, The Host, The Yellow Sea, JSA, and the Vengeance trilogy. Also a big fan of anything with Takeshi Kitano. I have a sweet boxset of his.

All superb..Throw in HK master Johnnie To’s half dozen greatest crime flics and you’ve just named my favourite movies of the last fifteen years….and Kitano’s Sonatine has my favourite soundtrack

At first glance, I thought Walter Hill has sold out to the PC crowd… but then I realized, this is as un-PC as it gets. If anyone was forced to change sex against their will, well then, they’d probably go medieval on whoever is responsible, before most likely offing themselves… Hill is brave to have picked this project, that may offend both his audience (Manly Movie’s demographic) and the PC transgender/metrosexual/progressive audience. It may sound like his craziest film yet, and i look forward to seeing it
