George Miller Rumoured For ‘The Batman’

At one point, Ben Affleck (good director!) was attached to direct a standalone Batman movie.  However after he was apparently unhappy with the script, he has now dropped out.  Now new names have been spoken off as on a short list to direct instead.

Matt Reeves (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Gavin O’Connor (The Accountant), Matt Ross (Captain Fantastic), and two very high profile names – Denis Villeneuve (Arrival) and…

… genius auteur George Miller (Mad Max Fury Road).

So, I don’t know, maybe after all these years of fatigue, one of the best directors can make a cool comic book movie using one of the darkest and most interesting characters.

A George Miller directed Batman film would be INCREDIBLE.

But the studio would never let it happen, not the way Miller would do it. If he ends up getting the job, his balls will be seriously cut off and the finished product will be a mish-mash of different people’s opinions and decisions. Shame, that character and Miller could make something truly wonderful. Sam Raimi’s Darkman comes to mind.

Nine years ago Miller once developed a Justice League movie for WB but the studio disagreed with him and canned his vision, looks like they’re trying to get back to his good graces but I expect history to repeat itself. A shame of Affleck dropping out as director though, it would have been an interesting take on Batman.

Pretty good shortlist of directors I might add, except Matt Ross, Captain Fantastic was boring, steaming hipster bullshit.

I thought Affleck was great in the role.
Even if you didn’t like the movie Batfleck kicked ass.
But I’m afraid whiny Millennials are going to get the way and the tone will be toned down because of Millennials pissing in their pajamas at night when thinking of the latest incarnation of Batman. Too rough for them.
    Seriously boys…grow a fuckin pair

The director’s cut is definitely better. I actually like Affleck’s Daredevil movie. I always thought it got shit on a lot unfairly.
Btw..that movie has a director’s cut thats also better than the theatrical version even though i liked both.
Colin Farrel was funny as Bullseye

Get Steven DeKnight (Daredevil Netflix series) to direct a Batman movie based on a raw, gritty, hard edged script by David Ayer or someone like Alex Garland who did an impressive job with Dredd.

I agree. Or maybe Denis Villeneuve (Sicario, Blade Runner 2049) could give us a good Batman movie.

of this list I would pick Reeves or O’Connor. But I think David Fincher or Matthew Vaughn would be ok
