I think it’s safe to say that nobody will forget the meteorite-sized turd that was Aliens: Colonial Marines. Incase you missed ManlyMovie.net’s review (2/10), here’s a part of it:
Words can barely describe how shit this travesty is. But I’m going to try nonetheless. It’s supposedly a sequel to Aliens in development since eternity and even licensed as canon by Fox. Yet it is neither. It’s a sequel to Alien3 and has been in development since at least 2001. Everything, and I mean everything about this gangrenous mess is fucking terrible. 12 years and this is what they come up with? It is the perfect storm of shit.
Me, I thought that SEGA would surely have learned a lesson. That they’d never pull this type of (unintentional) horror again. Well lessons were not learned. Gaming site Kotaku has reported that another game, ‘Alien: Isolation’ is in development. The game will be a horror/FPS hybrid, where the character will take on an army full of sentries/clones (note: these were first introduced in 1996’s Alien Trilogy, they were never canon) and one solitary Alien. The protagonist will be Amanda Ripley, Ellen Ripley’s daughter.
What.
Amanda Ripley was clearly revealed as deceased in Aliens (director’s cut). From the photo, she hardly looks like a Colonial Marine, more of someone who’d earned the title of Dr. They are supposedly setting it during the time that Ripley was stranded in hyper sleep (57 years). Sounds like crap. Look, if they were going to create a shooting game based between Alien and Aliens, then the logical thing to do would’ve been to forget Amanda Ripley and chronicle Vasquez instead, or if they could get Paxton et al, Apone’s entire crew. Of course, since that would be cool and make sense, SEGA must do the opposite and not only create a shit story, but hire developers who have never created an FPS game before. Hack writers and greenhorn developers…
Not another shit Aliens game…
