The Sensei has a new film coming out called Force of Execution and while promoting it he was interviewed by IGN where he dropped a respectable truth bomb: “There’s a lot more wire work, a lot more special effects, a lot more tricky camera shit, just a lot more mumbo jumbo now.” He went on to say a little more on the subject of wire work in action scenes, “It’s phony and everyone knows that you’re on a wire. It’s not what I like. But hey, I’m also a paid actor and I try to be a professional.”
It wouldn’t be an interview with Steven Seagal though if the man didn’t say something highly amusing as well and sure enough he didn’t disappoint: “In China, there are some wonderful actors. I really enjoyed Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Donnie Yen’s performance in Ip Man. Not that I’m trying to flatter myself, but those are things that I’d like to be likened to rather than anything else over here.” First the man shits on wire work and then he says he enjoys Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Sure Steven, we all liken you to Donnie Yen too, don’t we?
