For some perspective on how big The Raid 2: Berandal (2014) is actually going to be, you’d need only consider how many hours were put into planning the final fight. Or how many weeks, or months even. 1.5 months to be exact. 1.5 months planning one fight. That’s according to director Gareth Evans (see Tweet below). Stallone said he wanted to ‘out-raid The Raid’ with The Expendables 3. Not likely.
Consider that the fight scene between Jason Statham and Scott Adkins in The Expendables 2 was given only one day (maybe two) of preparation. This was while Adkins had a busted knee, so he really should’ve been afforded more time. Same thing again from Avi Lerner for The Expendables 3, there appears to be a lot of cut corners. So while The Expendables 3 (the finale at least) may be ‘inspired’ by The Raid, I seriously doubt it’ll get close.
@TheChewDefense We spent 1.5months just designing the final fight. That’s the most complex we have done so far. Another 3-4 weeks on pre vis

The Statham versus Adkins fight from Expendables 2 was a travesty when you consider how the fans got ripped off from what should have been a classic encounter for the ages. They were given 2 days to plan and shoot it and one of those days were later nixed in half in favor of shooting a Novak Djokovic cameo that got cut out of the movie. Goes to show you how out of the loop these people who make films can be.

I really want expendables 3 to be the best, I hope it has more descent looking locations, no so cheap looking sets.
