A year or more ago it was said that Double Impact (1991) was going to get a sequel. Such updates still lurk on the Wikipedia page for the original movie. Van Damme himself said: “I wrote the script with a friend of mine, Sheldon – he [co wrote] Bloodsport and Double Impact with me. I came up with a great story set in Los Angeles. [Chad] is a producer, making pictures with a big house behind him. Alex is gonna go on vacation and has some problems with the Triads.”
ManlyMovie reached out to Sheldon Lettich, who wrote and directed the original movie to see what’s actually up with this project. According to Lettich Double Impact 2 is no longer going to happen: “Sorry, but DI-2 does not appear to be happening.”
Which isn’t surprising really. I think at best, that was a long shot for Van Damme. Incidentally, another Van Damme movie from that era will get an update, but not with Van Damme. TimeCop will get a reboot. Unsurprisingly they seem keen to ignore the sequel, TimeCop: The Berlin Decision.
