Escape Plan was a box office success taking in roughly $136,000,000 on a budget that was a maximum of $50,000,000, but likely smaller. It would’ve been even higher had it gotten proper marketing in places like Australia, where it was inexplicably denied a theatrical run. But it’s not only a success at the box office, it’s coming out swinging in the home video market now too.
The Lionsgate-distributed film has debuted at No. 1 on Nielsen VideoScan’s First Alert sales chart, which tracks overall disc sales, DVD and Blu-ray Disc combined, and Home Media Magazine’s weekly rental chart.
It’s not number one on dedicated Blu Ray sales however with Bad Grandpa taking that number one spot, however is only 7% behind. So if you haven’t already seen Escape Plan now is a good time to check it out. We declared Escape Plan to be the Manliest Movie of 2013 and in our review gave it a nine out of ten. Hell even if you have seen it already — pick it up anyway!
