Clint Eastwood is making a movie about Chris Kyle, America’s most prolific sniper. The title role will be played by The Hangover’s Bradley Cooper. Above, we have the first picture from the movie. Unofficial.
The movie will mostly take place in Iraq but will also have scenes set in Afghanistan. Homeland star Navid Negahban – who starred as Abu Nazir in the Showtime drama – has been cast as Iraqi local Sheikh al-Obeidi, who helps the SEALs find their targets.
American Sniper will film in Santa Clarita and Morocco. And it’ll have “a lot of squibs”. In an interesting addition Kevin Lacz, who was a real life team member and friend of Kyle’s will play himself. Lacz said the highlight of shooting so far was when Eastwood gave him the thumbs up on his performance:
“He said, ‘Damn good job, son,’ which was pretty cool coming from a director like Mr. Eastwood. He’s so amazing: nice, smart and sincere. And he’s so prepared each day that most things are done on the first take.”
