UPDATED: 11/05. Well, it looks like our bullshit radar fed us accurate information of impending bovine excrement. Director Justin Lin says that if he’s directing Lethal Weapon 5/Lionhunters, then it’s only happening in a parallel universe. File the rest of this under nonsense.
Just got back to the states and saw that I’m directing Lethal Weapon and Fast7. Did I just land in an alternate universe?

PREVIOUSLY: Last year it was reported there were plans to go ahead with a Lethal Weapon 5, either to be shot in 2015 or released in 2015 – with the old gang. Presumably that meant Mel Gibson and Danny Glover as the stars.
Well you might wanna be sitting down for this one…
It seems that they want Chris Hemsworth instead. And that they don’t want a sequel either, rather a reboot. Apparently, they’re even calling it Lionhunters. In the movie, the story would be about an older cop’s son and his wishes to join the police force. So says this source anyway. It also claims that Justin Lin is being sought to direct, with involvement from Joel Silver, Shane Black and possibly a role for Mel Gibson.
And y’know… the addition of all those big names kinda pings my bullshit radar. The article seemed to stop just short of throwing in Danny Glover and Joe Pesci and whoever else just happens to be popular, ‘for good measure’?
If it’s true though, fuck that. Chris Hemsworth? The guy is about as funny as balls cancer, he’s no Martin Riggs material. And Justin Lin? That guy is no Richard Donner. His recent stuff in Fast & Furious is toe-curling… so says this .gif
If this is true, and that’s a big if, I’m sure Mel would turn this down. He turned down a cameo in Fury Road – and that was with George Miller directing. So I highly doubt he’ll show up in a shark-jumping teen-pleaser. Danny Glover showed no interest in this movie at any stage, so I doubt he’ll show up either.
First Red Dawn and now Lethal Weapon. Please, Hemsworth, stick to jucing for those kids movies…
