William H. Macy has joined the cast of Blood Father, alongside Mel Gibson. Which is good news as Macy certainly has some acting chops. In Blood Father, an ex-con (Mel) reunites with his estranged wayward 16-year old daughter to protect her from drug dealers who are trying to kill her.
This is tried and tested manly movie territory, Liam Neeson turbo charged his career with this formula in the late ’00s. Hopefully it’ll do for Mel what it did for Liam.
The director Jean-François Richet, probably best known for directing the Mesrine movies. Those were highly effective gangster movies and if you’re the type who passes up on non-English speaking movies, those two are a definite recommended exception. Blood Father is shooting right now in New Mexico throughout this month.
It’ll be released in 2015. Thanks to ‘Anon’ for keeping us up to speed.
