A while back it was revealed that Shane Black was working on a new Predator movie. Black then came out himself to deny suggestions that it was a reboot, but an actual sequel. Black would write a treatment, Fred Dekker would tool the screenplay and Black might also direct.
Now Shane Black has spoken another bit on this movie.
“Fred Dekker and I had such a blast on The Monster Squad together back in 1987. Fred essentially taught me everything I knew back then, and we stayed friends. We’re just writing a treatment and a script now, and I would have an option to direct. We took the existing mythology of Predator. What we’re tasked with is expanding and exploring the Predator universe to make a sequel that gets us all excited again about that world – that gets the same kind of excitement that we had for it at the outset, with the first Predator. That’s the goal. I think the fans will be pleased with what we have planned.”
We here at ManlyMovie have our own suggestion for a director — John McTiernan. Make it so, Shane…
