Good news for anyone who was a fan of the hit 2007 action thriller “Shooter” — Paramount TV and actor Mark Wahlberg are teaming to develop a TV drama series adaptation.
The movie which was an adaptation of Stephen Hunter’s novel “Point of Impact”, followed a former U.S. Marine Scout Sniper named Bob Lee Swagger (Wahlberg) who is coaxed back into action. Ultimatey he is framed for murder and forced to go on the run. Antoine Fuqua directed.
John Hlavin (The Shield, anyone?) will write and executive produce the series. Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson (Boardwalk Empire) will act as executive producers.
This continues Paramount TV’s push into TV series adaptations of its library titles. The company has numerous other TV series in the works based on films since the turn of the millennium including a “Minority Report” sequel, a “Shutter Island” prequel and a “School of Rock” musical comedy remake.
