For people who aren’t aware, Beverly Hills Cop IV is coming. And it’ll be R-rated. When’s it filming? Not yet, Paramount recently told ManlyMovie that they weren’t ready to reveal the details of principle photography but would update us when they were. I’d heard September earlier in the summer, I guess that isn’t happening.
But what about the release date? That’s locked at March 25th 2016. Small problem there though…
The initial release date for Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice is March 24th 2016. Or basically both movies will be released at the same time. On the one hand, these movies are like chalk and cheese. You’ll have Eddie Murphy dropping motor-mouth F-bombs in one screening and Henry Cavill giving a sullen thousand yard stare (is that how Superman is supposed to behave?!) in the other. It could be that the audiences are so contrasting that the effect could be negligible.
On the other hand you’d have to think that this might not be good news. Batman Vs Superman is fullproof, as in it doesn’t matter if it’ll be a poor movie like the last Batman (review here) and Superman (review here) movies respectively, it’ll still draw massive crowds and critics will shy away from giving it a fair review. It’s already dominating movie news sites despite this not even being 2015, let alone 2016. Beverly Hills Cop IV on the other hand… who else but ManlyMovie really mentions this movie?
In any case, we won’t shy away from going to war for Bruckheimer and Murphy’s R-rated update. By the way, a while back I hassled Gilbert Gottfried‘s people on whether or not it was true he was appearing in Beverly Hills Cop IV. In their response they didn’t confirm it – but they didn’t deny it either. Sidney Bernstein cameo, anyone?
