A good movie came out a while back, Blue Ruin (review), a manly movie sort of in vein of Cold in July (review) or Out of the Furnace (review). It was directed by Jeremy Saulnier, and now Saulnier is returning to that type of movie for Green Room. Patrick Stewart plays Darcy Banker, the unflinching and industrial leader of a ferocious white supremacist fiefdom based in the Pacific Northwest.
Also in the cast are Anton Yelchin, Imogen Poots, Alia Shawkat, Joe Cole, Callum Turner, Mark Webber, Kai Lennox, Eric Edelstein and Saulnier’s Blue Ruin star Macon Blair.
This isn’t the first time Picard has played a villain. Remember, he was a baddie opposite Mel Gibson in Conspiracy Theory and also opposite Christopher Lambert in Gunmen. And he’s good at it too. So alongside Saulnier being a directer I’d advise keeping an eye on, this could be a good movie. Also, for old time’s sake, Jean Luc does not like pissants who bully people to get a rise out of an audience.
