It’s obvious by now that a Sopranos sequel and/or movie update are not going to happen, for various reasons (both Tony Sorpano and James Gadolfini have passed), but what about a prequel?
“Even if I did it, it wouldn’t be ‘The Sopranos’ that was on the air,” David Chase tells AP in a new interview promoting the Blu-ray release of his landmark HBO mafia drama that spanned six season from 1999 to 2007. “Obviously at least one person is gone that we would need,” referring to late actor James Gandolfini.
David Chase mentions possible areas he would explore: “There are a couple of eras that would be interesting for me to talk about, about Newark, New Jersey. One would be (the) late ’60s, early ’70s, about all the racial animosity, or the beginning, the really true beginning of the flood of drugs.”
Sounds risky to me. Is it possible for Chase to pull it off again? You can check out our complete collection Blu-Ray review of The Sopranos here.
