Two Boxers Join Rocky Spin Off

Two boxers, Andre Ward and Tony Bellew, are in talks to join “Creed”, a spin-off of “Rocky” at MGM. The film stars Michael B.Jordan as the grandson of Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers in the original “Rocky” films), who is now being mentored by Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone).

Bellew will play a ruthless boxer named Pretty Ricky Porter, who young Creed is forced to take on in the ring. Ryan Coogler (“Fruitvale Station”) directs the movie, which goes into production in January in Vegas and Philly.

I think we could unofficially call this Rocky 7 and I bet Sylvester Stallone is hoping to get a trilogy out of this in a Burgess Meredith type role.
