You have probably heard about a recent leak of some big movies, Fury (2014) being among them. Well it turns out the movies that were leaked were from Sony Entertainment and that they were stolen from private servers by hackers. Those hackers were from North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s cyber army.
Asked whether Pyongyang was involved in the cyber assault against Sony Pictures Entertainment, a spokesman for North Korea’s mission to the United Nations would only say “wait and see,” according to reports on website Voice of America.
This is all down to the R-rated comedy, a satirical movie and espionage actioner The Interview, starring Seth Rogen and James Franco.
Synopsis: Dave Skylark and his producer Aaron Rapoport run the popular celebrity tabloid TV show “Skylark Tonight.” When they discover that North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un is a fan of the show, they land an interview with him in an attempt to legitimize themselves as journalists. As Dave and Aaron prepare to travel to Pyongyang, their plans change when the CIA recruits them, perhaps the two least-qualified men imaginable, to assassinate Kim Jong-un.
A while back when we reported that North Korea promised “merciless retaliation” should the movie be released, we didn’t actually think they were serious. This isn’t the first time Kim Jong Un has unintentionally promoted an R-rated manly movie. Last year a controversial stand off headed by Kim just so happened to occur right as Olympus Has Fallen was getting ready to hit theatres, a movie featuring a North Korean attack on the White House.
Here’s the red band trailer for “The Interview”…
