Mad Max: Fury Road sure is looking good. But these days we naturally have reservations about such updates and sequels. They often come at a cost — having their DNA watered down for the 21st century. That is a worry for Mad Max: Fury Road, ideally it should be R-rated. It still might be.
RottenTomatoes has updated their Fury Road page to suggest an R rating.
RottenTomatoes is a big site, so while this is by no means a confirmation, is is somewhat indicative. Word is that George Miller was given carte blance and allowed to make the movie he wanted, which was in fact a tough R-rated movie. But there are persistent rumours to the contrary, suggesting it will be PG-13.
As I said in a previous article, one possible scenario is an Expendables-style situation with a PG-13 cut in cinemas and a director’s cut on DVD. Warner Bros. have thrown the kitchen sink into this one, including a 3D conversion, so it remains to be seen.
But the hope is still alive…
